Known as the "Jacaranda City" for its purple-bloomed trees, it serves as the seat of government, housing the Union Buildings and numerous embassies. It is a hub for history, education, and culture.

Pretoria experiences a humid subtropical climate (Cwa) with warm, sunny days, mild winters, and significant summer rainfall. Currently, early March brings highs of roughly 76°F-83°F (24°C-28°C) and lows around 56°F-64°F (13°C-18°C), featuring a mix of sun and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Summers are long and hot, while winters (June-August) are dry and cool.
